Blunt Predictions Presents: The Hateful Eight (Trailer #2)

the hateful eight

Release Date – January 2016

If Tarantino respects the Western genre then this could, and more importantly should, be a fantastic film. It appears to have the verbiage expected from a typical Tarantino screenplay, but if it’s anything like Django Unchained then we’re in for a good show. It’s clearly very character driven, however I’m hoping for more plot and substance. I want this to be as cleverly written as Reservoir Dogs, but ultimately I’m prepared for disappointment. What I want above all is a strong female character. Not much is seen of her in this trailer which makes me think Tarantino is hiding something.

Blunt Predictions Presents: The Revenant (Trailer #2)

Release Date – January 2016

I have absolutely no doubts about this film. Alejandro González Iñárritu is one of the finest directors working in film at the moment, and he’s got two of the biggest named actors of our time (DiCaprio and Hardy) playing real people in a true story, so there’s very little room to go wrong. From initial footage it’s clear this is going to be visually stunning, with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki producing beautiful work as always. I think this will be difficult to watch and possibly too artistic for mass audiences, but hopefully it’ll be one of the best of the year.

Blunt Predictions Presents: Deadpool (Red Band Trailer #2)

DEADPOOL

Release date – February 2016

For the time being it needs work but it’s looking alright. Ryan Reynolds knows the character well and appears to be doing a solid job after the character’s public execution in 2009 . What concerns me is that it looks like it’s trying to do what Kick Ass already did better. Sure be adult rated, but do it properly. Based on the comics and what this trailer showed us it’s going one of two ways: it’s either going to be awesome or an absolute disaster. I want it to be good but I doubt it will live up to the hype.

Blunt Reviews Presents: Blunt Predictions

It is the start of the new year! A time for change, improvement and moving forwards! Or for stubborn idiots who enjoy pontificating from behind a computer screen it’s a time to expand. And that is why I have decided to try something new on this blog.

Loyal readers will be all too familiar by now with my style of writing entitled Blunt Reviews, where I attempt to review films in 100 words or less. It’s been fairly popular over the last year, regardless of how infrequently I have written. However as I mentioned in a blog post back in November of last year I have decided to set myself targets for writing to ensure I am posting on a regular basis. To coincide with this I will also be experimenting in an outwards trajectory with a similar writing style but with a new twist.

I will still be writing my Blunt Reviews, however these will now be accompanied by Blunt Predictions.

It’s quite straight forward, I will be addressing upcoming films and making predictions based on trailers and footage shown prior to their cinematic release. As with Blunt Reviews I am limited to 100 words so judgement will remain concise and harsh. Obviously it won’t be a final judgement of the film because it’s stupid to judge something without having seen it. It’s less reviewing but it’s more speculating.

I felt as though the start of the year was an appropriate time to begin experimenting with this style considering there are tonnes of new films to be released and lots of trailers already floating around the internet. Hopefully I should be able to post a few predictions over the next week or so, including some at roughly the same time as this post, just to see how people respond to them. I should also continue posting a few reviews to keep things running smoothly.

That’s the main piece of news for now, so all that’s left for me to say is thank you. As of last week I’ve now been writing this blog for three years, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time to read what I’ve written and to thank those who have given continued support over the last year in particular. I have been one of the most inconsistent writers but I’m hoping to improve that this year and to keep a fairly consistent rate. I’ve had numerous doubts about the work I produce but it’s thanks to the support from readers that I’ve decided to keep going.

That’s all from me for the time being. As I mentioned before I’ll be posting some predictions as soon as possible. I’m completely open to suggestions so if there are any films you’d like me to make a prediction for then please feel free to leave comments below or contact me on Facebook or Twitter (@Adam_Lester17). If possible then send me the link to trailers and clips too in case I haven’t seen them already!

Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read this, have a great year!
